I recently interviewed a favorite blogger of mine and wanted to talk about how they were able to grow their blog and sustain their growth. I was delighted to have the interview since I have been reading their blog for three years. I started reading it while in a cubicle and have since moved on, but still find time to read it daily. They provide excellent advice and are always talking in a very direct and easy to understand manner.
When the interview started I guess I must have sounded like a little school girl. I was able to find some information out about how they have grown, where they see the blog going. About half way through the discussion they told me that in fact they had already sold the blog. I didn’t quite know what to say. I was happy to hear that they have been so successful. I was taken back because they did not publicize the sale.
I guess after the interview I realized that this blog meant a lot to me. It was more involved in my life than any other form of media. In some crazy way I felt like I knew them. I did not like the fact that they had made these big decisions, and just like a business would. I realized they made the right decisions, and it is a business. It made me realize that navigating the world of blogs and brands it can all be bought or sold.
